Supermarket Sainsbury’s has started using cardboard hangers for its own brand baby clothes.

These new cardboard hangers will replace five million plastic hangers and save 103 tonnes of plastic being used per year.

Following a successful trial, these hangers will now be used in 400 stores and the hangers can be recycled at home.

The cardboard hangers will be used on the retailer’s Tu Clothing Baby range.

Sainsbury’s will continue to offer in-store recycling services for Tu Clothing plastic hangers. Between January and July this year, 12 million plastic hangers were returned at the checkout.
