WRAP has appointed Baroness Jenkin of Kennington to its board of trustees.
The Conservative peer has been a member of the House of Lords since 2011, and is vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Food Waste. She is also a trustee of the Feeding Britain charity.
WRAP chief executive Liz Goodwin said: “With a wealth of knowledge on food waste, and a passion for tackling its causes, she will be an important supporter for the next phase of our food waste prevention work.”
Baroness Jenkin added: “I am a long-time admirer of WRAP, particularly its work to reduce food waste, and am therefore delighted to join its board as trustee.
“Globally, up to one-third of all food produced is wasted, and here in the UK, the equivalent of £60 a month is wasted by individual households.
“I look forward to helping WRAP continue efforts to reduce waste to the benefit of people’s lives and finances.”
