These are the latest HMRC export figures for September 2023 for PE-based plastics – commodity code 391510. Only destinations of more than 1,000 tonnes per month are included.
Polymer – Commodity code 391510
Polymer exports were slightly up across Europe and Asia, with 27,110 tonnes of PE-based plastics for recycling leaving the UK in September, compared to 25,368 in August.
Noticeably, Malaysia increased its imports of this grade, up from 1,240 tonnes in August to 2,210 in September. This helped exports to Asia rise to 13,550 tonnes from 13,110 tonnes in August.
Interestingly, European exports reached their highest level since March this year with 13,560 tonnes leaving the UK – almost identical to the amount that went to Asia.
