The Modern Karton mill in Turkey is to add a new PM6 machine that will produce an additional 640,000 tonnes of recycled corrugated cardboard per year.
Voith has been appointed to install the line after completing the PM5 machine in 2015. It is hoped the new machine will be operational by spring 2023.
Once completed, it is expected to take the capacity of the mill up to almost 2 million tonnes per year. The mill sources 100% recovered fibre.
Modern Karton owner Eren Holding chairman Ahmet Eren said: “We are delighted to have a strong and reliable partner like Voith at our side for the construction of our new production facility.
“Their outstanding work in previous projects and our extremely close and constructive collaboration won us over.”
Modern Karton is the largest manufacturer of packaging paper in Europe and this investment consolidates that position.
The mill is situated in the town of Ergene in the European part of Turkey, 100km north-west of Istanbul.
