The technology giant partnered with Canadian social enterprise Plastic Bank for the environmental mission.

The duo aim to prevent the equivalent of 2.5 million bottles entering the oceans.

Plastic Bank collection points across South East Asia offer locals financial and wellbeing rewards for waste items.

The organisation tracks and verifies material through a blockchain-based platform.

Acer has set itself a target for its computers and displays to include more than 20 per cent recycled plastic by 2025.

The firm launched its first carbon-neutral PC, the Acer Aspire Vero 16, shortly before Christmas.

Acer said it would “continue to evolve with the industry and changing lifestyles by promoting innovative and eco-conscious solutions for the long-term sustainability of its operations and the environment”.
